- If it were a piece of music it would be "Firestarter" by The Prodigy; if it were a dish of Italian cuisine it would be a gourmet pasta all'arrabbiata (with lots of chilli pepper). Instead, what this article is about is the latest jewel of the Wilier Triestina house, the Wilier Rave SLR, a concentration of aggression on two knobby wheels ready to pave any gravel course. Wait, calm down...just saying!
Clean, minimal, aerodynamic, responsive, versatile, fun, Italian...we could go on and on!
The Wilier Rave SLR is a top of the range, and you can quickly notice that; it is the definitive gravel bike and comes out on the market with incredible timing compared to the announcement of the UCI regarding a probable gravel racing circuit for professionals.
We tried it some time ago and we immediately fell in love with it!
Our first impression of the WIlier Rave SLR was marked by three main characteristics:
-
The gritty geometries make the bike very reactive but at the same time do not compromise the main element of a gravel bike, which is comfort.
-
The Campagnolo setup makes us fly just by looking at it! An all-Italian bike with top components! (But we can also order it in many other versions)
-
It is a full-fledged gravel bike where we can go up to a 42mm but we can transform it into an allroad simply, by fitting the appropriate tires.
Wilier Rave is also the vehicle for those who want a versatile bike. In fact both colorways of the of Rave SLR, Sand/Green and Black/Grey, come outfitted with top-end road accessories (new Shimano Dura Ace Di2, new Shimano Ultegra Di2, Sram Force AXS) or high range gravel accessories (Campagnolo Ekar, Shimano GRX or the new Sram Force AXS XPLR) with road or gravel tyres up to 42mm.
EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED is the claim of this new masterpiece by Wilier Triestina and we can only agree with this path taken by the iconic Italian brand.
