STKP in Five Days: 1,850 Kilometres Through the Heart of Slovenia

On 5 August, Adam Jordan attempts the 1,841 km STKP in five days—self-supported across Slovenia.

On 5 August 2026, Slovenian ultra-endurance cyclist Adam Jordan will begin his biggest challenge yet: an attempt to complete the entire Slovenian Mountain Bike Route in five days. The self-supported journey covers approximately 1,841 kilometres and more than 52,000 metres of elevation gain.

What began as an idea one year ago is now close to becoming reality.

Starting at 07:00 in Kostanjevica na Krki, Adam will set out to complete the Slovenian Mountain Bike Route, known as the STKP, in five days. Officially divided into 43 stages, the route connects many of Slovenia’s most distinctive landscapes in one continuous journey.

The STKP passes through the forests of Pohorje, the Karawanks, the Kamnik–Savinja Alps and the Julian Alps before continuing towards the Karst and the Adriatic coast. From there, it turns east through the Snežnik mountain range, Kočevsko, Bela krajina, Dolenjska and Kozjansko, before crossing the Slovene Hills and returning towards Pohorje.

The Slovenian Landscapes fascinate in Bikepacking races like Seven Serpents.

To complete the route within five days, Adam expects to ride approximately 350 to 400 kilometres and around 9,000 metres of climbing each day, spending up to 18–20 hours on the bike.

A self-supported challenge

The attempt will be completed in a self-supported format. Adam will carry the necessary equipment on his bicycle and independently manage navigation, food, rest and mechanical problems along the route.

A small film crew will document the journey but will not provide sporting or logistical assistance.

Although the five-day target provides the project with a clear and demanding framework, the purpose extends beyond speed or the final result.

"Five days attracts attention, but it is not the true purpose of the project. I want to show how sport, nature, stillness and personal discovery can come together on the same journey. The real value is not only found at the finish, but in everything experienced along the way."

A journey through active Slovenia

The project aims to present Slovenia as more than the setting for an athletic challenge. Its forests, mountains, remote trails, villages, limestone landscapes and coastline will form a central part of the story.

The attempt will also become the subject of a documentary film exploring the physical and mental reality of ultra-distance cycling, alongside the diversity and beauty of Slovenia. Photography, short videos and updates from the route will be shared throughout the project.
