Komoot and the Giro d'Italia enter their second year!
Last year we reported on the somewhat surprising cooperation between the route planning platform and the Giro d'Italia. Italy is la dolce vita and amore infinito! The holiday destination and mecca of cycling for so many of us! The collections and routes on komoot now make it much easier for us to explore the land of the Giro ourselves (and at a leisurely pace)!
Komoot is now the "Official Route Planner" of the Giro d'Italia for the second year in a row. To mark the occasion, the outdoor platform is making two specially compiled route collections available to its 30 million users worldwide. Cycling fans will not only find the routes of the official stages to save and follow themselves, but also a collection of selected cycle tourism routes from all host regions as a source of inspiration for their own tours. This way they can fully immerse themselves in the spirit of the race and discover the real Italy.

In 2023, the start of the race, the "Grande Partenza", will return to Italy. The race starts on 6 May in Costa dei Trabocchi and finishes on 28 May in Rome. On their way to the finish, the participants of the 106th edition of the race cross 17 of Italy's 21 regions. In the process, they will cover 3,500 kilometres and overcome more than 51,000 metres of altitude.
But the Giro is more than just a race. It also impressively shows how closely cycling and culture are linked in Italy. The route leads through the most diverse landscapes, which are famous for their special wines, traditional cuisine and historical sights. After all, in which country can you get a better pizza? Or where can you still get an espresso for one euro?
From the imposing peaks of the Three Peaks to the rugged beauty of the Amalfi Coast and the distinctive castles of the Valle d'Aosta: the cycling tourism routes specially compiled by the RCS, the organiser of the Giro d'Italia, offer cycling fans inspiration for their next adventures and unique opportunities to discover the most beautiful places in Italy.
All tours can be downloaded for offline navigation on smartphones or synchronised with GPS devices. Users can edit the routes and change the starting point and destination as desired.

This way, the most passionate fans of the race can retrace the spectacular route in the footsteps of the professional peloton themselves or adapt the official stages to their own tastes and plan their own Giro d'Italia.
