The new Chimpanzee SUPER Bar is a solid entry into the natural energy bar market, offering two interesting flavors: Cocoa Muffin and Jellyberry. What sets these bars apart is their caffeine content—each one packs 100 mg of caffeine from natural guarana. While this might be a benefit for some, it may not always be ideal, especially if you’re not looking for a caffeine boost during every training session. Having caffeinated options is great, but it would be nice to see non-caffeinated versions as well for more flexibility.!
The bars are made primarily from fruit and nuts, giving them a pleasant, slightly moist texture that’s easy to chew—even during intense physical efforts. This is a key factor when you’re in the middle of a workout and need something that won’t slow you down. However, because they’re dense with dates and nuts, they are relatively heavy. Each 55g bar delivers about 31g of carbs, which makes them more suitable for longer efforts rather than shorter workouts. The taste is great and the two flavors definitely cater for a wide audience. Not too sweet, just right and either very fruity or a bit more on chocolaty side.
They could also be a good snack to replenish calories if you’ve missed a meal or need something substantial between training sessions.
They do not provide a lot of Protein though!
One thing that stands out about Chimpanzee as a brand is their commitment to natural ingredients and sustainability, like their 1% for the Planet initiative and vegan-friendly options. In a market flooded with performance-focused brands, Chimpanzee offers a refreshing approach with healthier, more natural alternatives.
All in all, I really like the SUPER Bar and its emphasis on natural energy. I’d love to see them expand the line with non-caffeinated options or smaller bars for shorter workouts. This could be a great way to cater to a wider range of athletes with different needs. Let’s see what Chimpanzee comes up with next!
