Bombtrack Bicycle Company expands its adventure lineup with the new Beyond+ Midtail, a limited-edition off-road cargo platform built from the brand’s deep experience in bikepacking and touring. Designed as a bike that merges expedition capability, everyday utility, and trail-ready performance, the Beyond+ Midtail will be produced in a run of just 100 units worldwide.
FRAMESET AND DESIGN
At its foundation, the Beyond+ Midtail is constructed from double butted, suspension-corrected 4130 chromoly steel, chosen for strength, comfort, and longevity. The quadruple butted downtube adds stiffness and precision where it’s needed most — around the headtube junction — while keeping weight low elsewhere.
A key part of the concept is the integrated rear rack, structurally connected to the frame rather than bolted on. With a 60 cm long platform, it supports either two child seats or up to four pannier bags, offering true cargo-bike functionality in a more compact form factor. Mounting points are located throughout the frame: direct mounts for top tube bags, bottle mounts above and below the down tube, and additional mounts on the rear stays and seat tube for load flexibility.
The Beyond+ Midtail is designed to pair with the rigid Seido BPS fork, also made from double butted crmo steel, or alternatively with a 120–130 mm suspension fork. The BPS fork includes triple cage mounts, rack and fender mounts, and internal hub dynamo cable routing, ensuring that the bike can adapt easily to backcountry or utility-focused setups.
COMPONENTS AND SPECIFICATION
Every component has been selected for reliability and universal serviceability in demanding conditions. The Beyond+ Midtail uses a Shimano Deore 12-speed drivetrain with a 10–51 T cassette, delivering broad gearing for both steep climbs and long open sections. Stopping power comes from Shimano Deore hydraulic disc brakes, with a 4-piston front and 2-piston rear caliper for balanced performance under load.
Wheel components are equally robust: Seido Magnon i35 asymmetric heavy-duty rims, tubeless-ready, paired with Maxxis Rekon 29" × 2.6" EXO TR Dual Compound tires. This combination ensures traction and ride comfort across a wide variety of terrains while remaining reliable for long-distance touring or everyday hauling.
GEOMETRY — LONG, STABLE, AND CAPABLE
The Beyond+ Midtail’s geometry reflects its dual personality as a trail-capable cargo bike. The 580 mm chainstay and wheelbases ranging from 1275 mm (M) to 1345 mm (XL) create exceptional stability when loaded, while the 68.5° head angle and 74° seat angle maintain responsive handling. With a stack of 651–688 mm and reach from 421–476 mm, the fit balances comfort for multi-day riding with efficient control across mixed terrain.
VERSATILITY AND USE CASES
The Beyond+ Midtail is designed for riders looking to bridge the gap between bikepacking and cargo practicality. Its combination of geometry, strength, and mounting options makes it suitable for:

- Bikepacking adventures requiring additional carrying capacity
- Family or utility transport, accommodating child seats or large panniers
- Daily cargo or commuter use, especially for riders who frequent unpaved routes
While most midtail cargo bikes are designed primarily for city use, the Beyond+ Midtail retains full off-road capability. It allows riders to carry significant weight without giving up the freedom to explore rough tracks, forest roads, or mountainous routes — true to Bombtrack’s roots in adventure cycling.
LIMITED PRODUCTION
Only 100 units of the Beyond+ Midtail will be produced. Each will be assembled with the same attention to detail and practicality that defines Bombtrack’s touring and bikepacking machines. According to company founder Manuel Schuerholz, the model was developed “out of passion” rather than commercial necessity — a project designed for riders who value practicality, capability, and individuality in equal measure.
