Ride Loose for Max

Back in August, we were still chasing each other through the forests of Notranjska and making plans for future projects. Just a month later, the message “Max is not coming home” hit us straight in the gut. Even now, it is hard to believe and accept that he is no longer with us.

An exceptional ultra-endurance athlete and the founder of the gravgrav collective, Max was probably best known to the Loose Cycles crowd as the person behind the Lynx Trail and as a co-organiser of our bikepacking events.

Max first visited us in December ’23, when, after his talk about the Lynx Trail project, we rode together across the Ljubljana Marshes, climbed up to Planinca and continued beneath Krim. This time, instead of riding with Max, we’ll ride the same route for Max.

With this group ride, we’ll remember a friend, a human with an enormous heart and endless energy, who had a special gift for bringing people together. We’re pretty sure Max would agree that this is the right way to remember him: with a ride together, good company, and without too many big words.

Če smo se avgusta še skupaj preganjali po notranjskih gozdovih in načrtovali prihodnje projekte, nas je le mesec kasneje sporočilo “Max is not coming home” zadelo naravnost v drobovje. Še vedno težko verjamemo in sprejmemo dejstvo, da ga ni več med nami.

Izjemnega ultrašportnika in ustanovitelja kolektiva gravgrav obiskovalci Loose Cycles verjetno najbolje poznate kot avtorja projekta Lynx Trail in soorganizatorja naših bikepacking dogodkov.

Max nas je prvič obiskal decembra ’23, ko smo se po njegovem predavanju o projektu Lynx Trail skupaj odpeljali čez Barje, se povzpeli na Planinco in nadaljevali naprej pod Krim. Namesto z Maxom se bomo tokrat po isti trasi zapeljali za Maxa.

S skupinskim rajdom se bomo poklonili prijatelju, človeku ogromnega srca in neizmerne energije, ki je znal povezovati ljudi. Prepričani smo, da bi se Max strinjal, da se mu poklonimo prav tako: s skupno vožnjo, v dobri družbi in brez prevelikih besed.
