Green Border Gravel
Self-supported gravel adventure across Slovenia's wild borderlands
Ride Description
Ride Description
Green Border Gravel is a self-supported gravel adventure through the remote borderlands of southeastern Slovenia. The route follows quiet roads, deep forests and long gravel sectors through a part of the country that feels far removed from the usual cycling postcard.
It is less about famous passes and iconic summits, and more about discovering a raw, overlooked landscape shaped by ridgelines, forest plateaus and rolling border terrain.

The route covers 300 km with around 7000 metres of climbing, making it a serious day out for riders who enjoy long distances, steady pacing and self-reliance.
Green Border Gravel passes through some of the most atmospheric landscapes in southern Slovenia — from the forested vastness of Kočevski Rog to the ridges of Gorjanci and the rolling karst borderlands toward Žumberak.
Together, these areas create a route that feels wild, quiet and constantly changing, yet always connected by the same sense of space and frontier.
