I like to think about cycling as a fuzzy combination of wind, freedom and colours.
So that's why when, for the fist time, I had a white Stada Kineticore Lazer, I immediately thought I wanted to make something unique out of this piece of new technology.
I squeezed my head then I thought I wanted to have a unique piece of art with the helmet as the canvas and inclusion as the inspirational theme. So I contacted a talented artist Alice Summers and I pitched her my idea: a decorated helmet inspired by women in cycling. Something with Kittie Knox, Alfonsina Strada, and Eileen Sheridan in mind, celebrating their impact on cycling even today.
She was sold straight away, so I kicked in the second layer for this complex project: I wanted this piece of art to be worth it for something, not only standing in my wardrobe ready for Instagram snaps or admired glimpses: I contacted one of my favourite charities with a bicycle foundation: Bikeygees, the Berlin based organization active in the refugees community, teaching migrant women to ride bikes, supporting their independence in a new city and unlocking a new part of their lives.
Everybody was in, so the whole picture was finally complete and tangible: Alice painted the unique Lazer Strada Kineticore (and it looks beautiful), Lazer and Bikeygees joined the plan with enthusiasm and joy and, yours truly finally dedicated some time on doing what he thinks doing best. recording a 3 episodes miniseries of the BroomWagon introducing the protagonists of this project: Bikeygees, Alice and Lazer
Ah, but A final thing of this project has not been presented.
